会話の中の破壊的な型（批判・防衛・回避などの連鎖）が、その後の関係悪化と関連する。
研究の性質と注意
関連の存在は支持されるが、引用される高い予測精度は交差検証を経ていないため、そのままでは使えない（Heyman & Smith Slep, 2001）。会話の内容より型のほうが情報を持つ、という点が中心。
